

Professor Shin Lin 林欣 (Ph.D., Biological Chemistry, UCLA; postdoctoral fellowship in Biochemistry and Biophysics at University of California, San Francisco), former Chairman of Biophysics at Johns Hopkin University, teaches Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, and Integrative Medicine at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to students in the Schools of Biological Sciences and Engineering and to resident physicians from the Departments of Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Hospice and Palliative Care in the School of Medicine.

He is Founding Director of the Laboratory for Mind/Body Signaling and Energy Research at UCI, applying electronic and biophotonic technologies to investigate the physiological mechanisms of the beneficial effects of Qigong/Tai Chi and TCM therapies.
Dr. Lin has received training in acupuncture at the Department of Rehabilitation Science of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is designated as a 12th generation inheritor of Chen Style Tai Chi and also teaches different styles of Qigong. He served on the National Advisory Council on Complementary and Integrated Health and as Chair of a Think Tank on Biofield Medicine at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). An elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS, publisher of Science), Dr. Lin held a Visiting Professorship at the Shanghai University of TCM and was a co-Principal Investigator of government-funded projects at the Shanghai Qigong Research Institute at this University for a dozen years. He is presently on the editorial board of the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine and a co-Chair of this Congress continuously since 2004.
